About xNovel

WHAT’S THE DEAL?

If you enjoy classic adult novels, then xNovel is designed for you. Feel free to read them online, or if you prefer, download to enjoy offline. Downloads are zip archives, containing the novel as a plain text file and the cover (if available) as a JPEG file.

There is no catch. There are no membership fees, nor is any part of the site “crippled” in any way. If you are still worried that it sounds too good to be true, review the privacy statement below.

PRIVACY POLICY

xNovel does not actively collect or solicit personal information. Note, however, that information such as your IP address, browser type and basic system configuration is logged automatically by the web server. Also, xNovel uses services such as Google Analytics purely for statistical purposes to aid site design.

Should you choose to contact the webmaster, your e-mail address will be used solely to reply or acknowledge your message, and will not be sold or used for any other purpose without your permission.

As far as reasonably possible, any information regarding the xNovel site under the control of the webmaster (such logs and e-mail addresses) will be kept strictly confidential except when required by applicable laws.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

If you like xNovel, here are some ways you can contribute and make it even better:

Links: if you have your own website or blog, please consider linking to xNovel. Or better yet, why not write a review AND link to us. Because xNovel is a volunteer project, the greater the number of visitors, the larger the potential pool of contributors. Please DO NOT include xNovel in sites you do not personally control – instead, mail the webmaster with a link to the site for consideration.

Covers: many novels are missing scans of their covers, or have covers which are small, badly scanned or watermarked. If you have one of the missing covers, or have a scan which is better than the one on the site, please contact the webmaster. DO NOT send the covers(s) unless requested by the webmaster.

Image editing: many cover scans need cleaning up and/or have watermarks removed. If you are proficient in image editing software such as Photoshop, please contact the webmaster.

Proof-reading: all novels have been edited for obvious formatting errors. However, the process is semi-automated (i.e. GREP search-and-replace) and is therefore not accurate. If you come across novels with errors (formatting, spelling, etc) and/or missing text/sections that you are able to correct, please contact the webmaster.

Suggestions: if you would like a feature added to the site, change the way something works, complain or compliment, please contact the webmaster.

Novels: if you have novel(s) that you would like to be included in xNovel, please forward the relevant information (title, author, etc) to the webmaster. DO NOT send the novel(s) unless requested by the webmaster.

SOURCES

Novels and covers are sourced from USENET groups such as alt.sex.stories and alt.sex.stories.moderated, websites such as those listed in Links and donated by visitors to xNovel.

HISTORY

xNovel first came into being in August 2001. When it was taken offline about a year later, the site was hosting around 560 novels. Work on version 2 of the xNovel site began in June 2006. The site went “live” a year later.

If you used to visit the original xNovel site, you may like to know that novels on this site posted before June 2007 were from the original xNovel site. All novels posted after June 2007 are new.

FAQ: THE TEXT OF DOWNLOADED NOVELS DO NOT HAVE PARAGRAPHS

The easiest way to fix this is to open the text file in WordPad (not NotePad). To do this, right click on the file in Windows Explorer and select Open With > WordPad (double-clicking on a text file opens it in in NotePad by default).
